CHALLENGE

When Desert Regional Medical Center, JFK Memorial Hospital, and Hi-Desert Medical Center united under Tenet Health to form Desert Care Network (DCN), the new health system faced a persistent perception gap. Although each hospital offered advanced clinical capabilities—including trauma, cardiology, cancer, maternity, and orthopedics—many Coachella Valley residents continued to view these facilities as small community hospitals, especially in comparison to the market’s long-established competitor. DCN needed a powerful, unifying brand platform that would elevate its standing from a patchwork of local facilities to a modern, inclusive regional center of excellence.

OUTCOME

In repositioning the newly unified health system, Maricich Health completed comprehensive discovery across the internal hospitals and the competitive landscape, resulting in Health Blooms —a conceptually driven brand platform which linked the vitality of the desert landscape to the life-giving impact of healthcare. The campaign portrayed Desert Care Network as courageous, service-driven, and devoted to all people across the valley. The anthem spot set the tone: desert blossoms unfurling at sunrise, paired with the line, “Out here, when the desert blooms, we feel alive.” Nature’s resilience became a metaphor for restored health—showing that healing, like blooming, happens with the right environment and care. A vibrant visual identity—desert colors, floral motion, and uplifting messaging—carried the concept through TV, digital, print, out-of-home, and social media, while internal materials aligned caregivers across all three hospitals. Together, these creative elements reframed Desert Care Network as a high-quality regional system that helps the community’s health bloom.
